| After every Encores there is talk about the show moving. Not until fairly recently. And I think it's become overkill in the last few seasons. I was FLOORED by the City Center Titanic this past summer, and although I haven't seen this concert Ragtime, I can't imagine why this should move and Titanic shouldn't, if we're really basing everything on "the book, the score, the voices and that gorgeous 28 piece orchestra" (which of course, is what a concert production should be about - but why should all these concert productions go to Broadway?). If City Center is slowly but surely being seen as a tryout venue for Broadway concert productions, aren't we losing the focus on what makes the Encores productions special? |
