ARCI'S PLACE

Last year when Eighty-Eights closed it left a gap in the cabaret world. On the heels of that closing comes a brand new venue on Park Avenue called Arci's Place which is now offering affordable evenings of cabaret entertainment. Some of cabaret's biggest stars will be performing in the month of December.

Marilyn Volpe in her new show New Year's Eve 1949, a toast to the decade of the 40's in song on a Fridays at 9:00 PM and Sundays at 3:00 PM schedule from December 3 through December 19. Ms. Volpe will be accompanied by her musical director Wes McAfee on piano, with John Loehrke on bass and Kenny Brescia on guitar. Marilyn is the recipient of a Back Stage Bistro Award as Outstanding Vocalist and 1996 & 1997 Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs' (MAC) nominations for Outstanding Female Vocalist. In New York she has performed at the Algonquin's Oak Room, Rainbow & Stars, Tavern on the Green, Eighty Eight's, and Danny's Skylight Room. Her show, You Fascinate Me So - Marilyn Volpe sings Cy Coleman - was recorded live at Tavern on the Green.

Karen Mason returns to Arci's - after having successfully opened the new room in November - with her holiday Christmas! Christmas! Christmas!, directed by the MAC Award winning director Barry Kleinbort. The MAC and Bistro-Award-winning vocalist's program will include material from her new CD, also entitled "Christmas! Christmas! Christmas!" Christopher Denny will be her musical director. Karen will perform Sundays, December 12 and 19 at 7:00 PM.

There will be a $25 cover charge and $15 minimum for all performances of New Year's Eve 1949 and Christmas! Christmas! Christmas!

And then if you'd like to end the century in style there's the New Year's Gala ("A Century of Song") December 31, 1999. There will be fine dining with a four course dinner, dancing and entertainment. On top of that you'll be able to toast in the New York with Moet & Chandon/Brut Imperial 2000 champagne, plus there will be an open bar. Entertainment for the evening will feature the award-winning singers Lisa Asher, Scott Coulter; the award-winning musical director Jeff Waxman; and The Bill Wurtzel Trio.

The party begins at 8:30 PM thru at least 2:00 AM. Price fixe $350. Better call for reservations for this one as I'm sure it will sell out fast. 212-532-4370
Arci's Place, 450 Park Avenue, between 30th and 31st Street, NYC.

See you Friday and Happy Thanksgiving!
