| Theater presents the ideas and feelings of the playwright but it doesn’t live on the page. But only comes alive when an audience sees it. Theatergoers bring their life experience to the play and that is why often there can be such varying opinions about a play. As an entity plays can be a chronicler of the times and can make us think about the lives we live. Obviously some plays provide perennial truths. That is why Shakespeare speaks for the ages and I am sure many of us can point to a number of plays that help us understand the human experience. |
