For me, portenopete has hit the nail on the head regarding the professionalism of security staff. I don’t like the queuing up, the bag checks, etc., but I can deal with all that in exchange for at least the illusion of security. What I find more difficult to deal with is being yelled at as I’m corralled and herded into the theater. Occasionally, I do find security staff that’s pleasant and welcoming (shout out here to the staff at the St. James which in my last three visits there, for different shows, has been wonderful). But more often it seems that the little authority security personnel have has gone to their heads so that they bark orders like petty tyrants. I found it so disagreeable at the Nederlander a while ago, I’ve avoided seeing anything there ever since. I think most people are willing to endure the inconvenience as long as they don’t feel as if they’re being treated like suspected criminals. |
